Of Underwater Explosion Experiments on Plane Plates
Author(s): R. Rajendran, J.K. Paik and J.M. Lee
Plane plates are used as targets to investigate the underwater shock response of ship structures. The advantages are (1) they represent the simplest structural elements of a ship, (2) there is simplicity in performing the experiment, and (3) it is possible to scale up damage parameters. The experiments can deliver a variety of results ranging from the fluid-structure interaction to the target material rupture characteristics.
