Ship Structural Safety and Reliability
Author(s): J.K.Paik and P.A. Frieze
Abstract:Recent research and development in the area of design methodologies related to safety and reliability of ship structures in reviewed, focusing on some relevant probabilistic approaches used for the load and resistance factor design (LRFD) of ship hulls against collapse. Important insights and findings previously obtained in the literature are summarized, and recommendations are made with respect to both technologically improved design procedures and those needed for future development.
